I had one for a while on my 7 it is plug and play comes with base maps and is a great piece of equipment, just the availability of tuners caused alot of frustration in the 7 community and apexi was very slow to respond to product demand leaving alot of people waiting for months.I would like to see just how well AEM handles there product as it gives you the same kind of interface and performance as a haltech and the plug and play of the PFC,and while some people say it's expensive consider a haltech will run you around $1300+ and then 500+ for install. The other problem is if you try and enter the maps yourself it's a real PITA to enter all those #'s on that small display I've done it enough to know. The problem with this setup is the fact that there were only two certified power excel dealers one on the west coast one on the east coast, so what was happening is you would buy your PFC and then send it to one of them with a list of your mods and they would give you a basic map for those mods, thats ok but it don't beat being tuned on a dyno or even on the street in that particular car, as every car will run different. Please let me know what you think! I'm still not sure about the Apexi ECU for my circumstances, so I'm hesitant to go for it. Maybe the ecu will be more beneficial as a result? I'm putting on a Garret/IHI hybrid turbo, and 3" custom turbo back, which will give me the extra 100 hp over stock fo the '94 WRX wagon, which was 218 hp. Of course, compared to the Link, the disadvantage is that with a Link I would have more precision than 500 rpm intervals, and noticable performance improvement - but I'd also pay $600 more for itīTW, my '94 WRX will be putting out 310-325 hp, so I'm not sure how that affects my situation. I doubt I'll get much more performance out of this ECU compared to stock, as I suspect they will be pretty comparable. I think the two main advantages of this Apex'i set-up versus stock ECu w/SAFC and AVCR is that I would also have timing control, and the Apex'i is set for 92 octane, rather than the stock ECU which is set for 100 RON (same as 94-95 Octane in the USA). My other thoughts were to go w/a Link, though. I was also thinking of adding an S-AFC, but then I stumbled onto this Apex'i ECU, which I can get it used four months from a '95 WRX, WITH/controller for $895.

Is there any point getting it if I have an AVC-R for boost control? It might actually be a nice complement to the AVC-R, although I didn't buy the AVC-R yet, so if I can control boost w/the ECU, I could save the $400+ for the AVC-R.DECISONS!
